You are not alone, I think we are all guilty of it! If you turn everything off, you can certainly be a whole lot more effective and it’s amazing how much more time you can create. It does however take some practice as it can still be tempting to open up a new window “just to check”, but discipline over time will help create a good habit.

The distractions one is my worst enemy. I have to close everything when I am trying to get a post done. facebook, skype twitter… all of it needs to go away. I see a notification and I have complete blogging ADD. 45 minutes later I have said happy birthday to someone on facebook, remembered I had to order someone else a birthday pressent, saw an amazon item i wanted to promote, changed a banner and then didn’t get a post done :) My biggest help in saving time is using a timer. When i need to get a little more action on something i will set a timer for 15 or 20 minutes and get to it on that one task only. After closing all other windows to avoid distractions of course.
