5 Reasons To Begin Blogging

Are you someone who is in two minds about whether to begin blogging?  There are so many great reasons to start a blog, and far more than I can cover in one post, but let’s look at a few of the basic reasons today.  Blogging is far more than just a place to post content.  If it was purely that, a bloggers journey would be rather dull, wouldn’t you agree?

Decide to begin blogging and be part of the fun journey, excitement and exploration.  How could you possibly resist!

5 Reasons Why You Should Begin Blogging Today!

1. Meet People From All Over The World Via Social Media

Begin BloggingSince starting my blogging career in 2012, I have been fortunate enough to meet many wonderful people from literally all over the world.  I have never actually met any of these people, but I have built up a close enough relationship that I would actually now call some of these people my friends.

How did I meet these people?

Well it was purely through my engagement with social media.  Your social media accounts are where you can build followers to your blog, but you can also have the FUN!

This is where you can engage, be part of communities and groups and totally be yourself.  In fact, you should be yourself!  You are much more likely to gain people’s attention if you are your normal jovial self rather than hiding behind a mask.

The wider the circle of networks you develop, the more chance you will have of those people sharing your content, building up wider networks and receiving a lot more traffic to your site.  This is a real win-win for everyone!

2. Obtain Traffic You Would Not Normally Encounter

If you have a business, then it is a great idea to begin blogging as a way of reaching out to customers who would not normally have found you.

Your blog is your own piece of internet space, so use it as you will to promote yourself.  Updating your blog on a regular basis will mean the Google search engines will see fresh content…and they love fresh content!  The more you work on your content, your SEO and your social networking, the higher the ranking you will see, and the more visitors coming your way.  It’s pretty exciting right?!

3. Drive Traffic To Your Older Content Which Will Get Shared

Blogging gives a fantastic way to interlink your content.  In new posts you should link to older posts which circulates the traffic around your site.  It also means that you can tap into older content at certain times of the year. When you begin blogging it is wise to work on your link building from the very beginning.

Another blog I own is Smart Party Planning.  This site is obviously based around all things party, and there are certain holidays that occur every year. You know them…Christmas, Easter, Halloween etc.  Each year I add fresh content to the site, but I also link back to older posts and promote them.  As your social networks grow, they might not be aware of older content, so show them off!!

Often when people begin blogging they think that you upload posts and then forget about them.  The opposite is infact true.  Constantly draw on your previous content and use linking strategies to maximise the content’s reach.

4. Build An Email List

Have you heard before how important it is to build an email or contact list when you are in business?  Well, when you begin blogging you can easily do just that!

Simply by adding a subscription box to your site, allows the option for readers to sign up.  They are giving you permission to be updated with new content, and new products that you may have for sale.  Don’t under-estimate the power of an email list for your earning potential!

5. Sell Products

A blog is a great way to sell products if you own a business.  You simply have the world at your feet, so put your products out there for people to see!  Of course, if your products are digital then it doesn’t matter where in the world you sell.

You may have a product that can only be sold to people in your local area, for instance it would be difficult to ship a cheesecake overseas or book photograph family sessions with those not in your local area, but that doesn’t mean a blog won’t be useful for you.  If this is the case, you simply target your local area in your blogging, and that is done via effective SEO.  Nothing stops you from making a blog successful for your business, regardless of your niche!

A blog is a multi-purpose tool that can be used in so many areas.  The more blogging tips that you gain, the easier it will become and the more excited you will be about it.

Would you like to begin blogging but you are not sure where to start?  The learn how to blog program is ideally suited to getting you set up correctly, giving you all the necessary tutorials that will walk you through the entire process.  It will also take you beyond the initial ’set up’ and gives information and guidance for everything you need to know about blogging!  If you want to make life even simpler you can even have the website built for you, so all you need to do is start adding the content!  Make blogging FUN and start today!

I am happy to have met you through blogging. I consider you a virtual friend :)

I had dabbled in blogging as a way to hold me accountable in training for a half-marathon. But I had no following on that blog so I didn’t really feel accountable to anyone and decided I wasn’t really meant to be a runner.

I got serious about blogging after losing my job and discovering there are many great resources available for learning to be successful with blogging — including your blog! :)

Thanks Dawn, one of the things I love about blogging is the ability to meet awesome people like yourself!

It sounds like you needed something to really make you commit to your blogging and loosing your job will certainly do that for you! With the amount of commitment you put it, I’m sure you will reach your goals :-) Thanks for your comment!

All are good reasons to start a blog. I’ve found blogs to be a great way to increase traffic and engagement to just about any type of website, you just have to be willing to put in some time and stick to it.

Blogging is definitely a great way to obtain engagement with new customers, but you are right, it does take time and commitment. But, anything worth doing is not going to be easy :-) Thanks for your comment.
