There are however some methods of moetization which are best to avoid if possible.
Did you think that the all ways to make an online income were good? Sorry to burst that bubble, but they are not! If you are not sure of what to look for when working towards an online income, then how you be sure you will avoid the pitfalls? As you become more experienced, you will avoid many of the mistakes, but if you need some guidance, then I’d recommend you read on!
1. Avoid The Annoying Ads!
How often do you read a blog that has incredibly annoying ads on it. Your content could be amazing, but if there is an annoying ad that keeps catching your readers attention, then the content is going to be lost.
Yes, you want your ad’s to stand out, but not at the cost of making your readers fed up! These ads will lower the quality of your site, reduce the traffic and are really best avoided.
Before you add anything to your site, consider whether it fits well with your blog design and feel. Does it look like an natural addition or does the neon flashing lights look slightly out of place? If you are not sure, then simply don’t put them on!
Ad’s that don’t fit with your design will look spammy and will loose you credibility.
2. Avoid Too Many Ads On Your Blog
You have made a decision regarding the type of ads you would like to place on your blog and they are a perfect fit. However, how many ads are you considering using?
Did you realise that having too many ads will actually work against your online income ability? There are a few reasons why too many ads could be loosing you customers.
1: Your blog is based upon building a relationship with others, and once a relationship is built, the sales start to appear. If you are focusing too much on the ads, this could put your readers off from returning. If they are not returning, then you can’t build a relationship!
2: Too many ads will only confuse people. Answer this question: When you go out to dinner, do you find it easier to decide what to eat when there are more or less options available to you? If there are too many options, then your readers simply won’t pick one. That alone could mean the loss of a sale!
3: Lots of ads on your blog will simply make your site look cheap. It will appear that you are only interested in the money and not actually about your content. People will be put off by money grabbers, and will be unlikely to purchase from you.
If you have a lot of ads on your site, consider removing a few and see what happens! Your online income will benefit from a few ads rather than a blog overloaded with them.
3. Undertake Your Research Before You Advertise
Don’t risk doing something that hurts the relationship with your readers. Your readers are your bread and butter of your online income and they should be taken into consideration with everything that you do!
Ensure that you are happy with the quality of the ads that you place on your site, so not to offend your readers.
When seeking affiliate products, you can choose the products that are suitable for your niche. Some advertising programs however will ask that you agree to any ad placement on your site. You want to have the control over the ads that go on your site, so make sure you do not sign up to anything where you do not have the final say!
What type of ads are you going to be placing on your site?
You need to make sure that you are not advertising your competition. What do I mean by this?
Well, I would simply be foolish to advertise a program that teaches people how to blog. It would be in direct competition to the program that I am part of and love to promote. Anything that competes with the learn how to blog program, I would simply not advertise on this blog.
Likewise on my party site, I sell an eBook detailing how you can plan a perfect party. Do you think I should then advertise another eBook doing the exact same thing? Of course not. Be sensible with your advert choices and research first!
4. Watch What Happens With Your Adverts
Making and online income is not going to be quick. You need to build relationships, gain your rankings in the search engines and fight your competition. Whilst all this is going on, you should be keeping an eye on what your stats are telling you.
Your stats will give you an insight into what people are searching for when they come to your site. What posts are they reading when they have arrived? What posts are popular and which ones are not? All this information will all help you to determine what your readers are looking for. Once you know what they are looking for, you know what to sell them!
Also pay attention to what ads are being clicked on and which are not. Remove the ads that are not working for you. Regardless of how great you think they may be, if they are not making the sales, they are useless on your site.
Achieving an online income will certainly be a bit of trial and error. You need the time to see what is working well for you and what is not. Whilst it would be great to “get lucky” with this, the chances are, you will need to undertake some experimentation.
Learn the best way to achieve an online income with your site as you go along. Don’t expect to learn it all in a week and you won’t be disappointed. Don’t just rely on something working for you. If you are not getting the results you want, then change things up a bit. You might feel uneasy about making the changes, but at the end of the day you have nothing to loose!
If you are someone that could use some guidance with this task, then I’d highly recommend you utilise the learn how to blog program. Not only will you be given amazing knowledge on all things blogging, but you will have the opportunity to learn from those that are already making money online.
