Otherwise it’s like being a “jack of all trades and master of none”. Great to hear that by making some changes you have noticed positive outcomes for your site! Thanks for your feedback :-)

There is not one point I disagree with. I think the major change for me for this year is writing high quality content and focusing on a specific niche market. It was a struggle since my blog was more generic, but I found something that was of interest to me and my market of readers started to change. Which is a positive thing. I use to blog every other day, but now once a week just to give each post a little more “mmph” to them! Thanks for sharing!

I know I am guilty of that mistake too. It’s such fun too though which makes it e en trickier!!

I can agree with all of these tips from my own experience. Social media can be great when it is used efficiently, but it’s so easy to spend way more time than you realize on different social networks. Treating a blog like a business is something that most people don’t do, and it really separates those who have success with those who do not.

The more enjoyable and shareable your content is, the more likely you will grow your readership.

Monetizing a blog can be difficult when you don’t have a focus point. Have you thought about what your product is? Once you know whether you want to target your own or an affiliate product it will help you plan a strategy for monetization much easier :-)

Starting with quality content is huge. Blogging is not easy, so when you start generating traffic you need to have something for them to enjoy, share etc.

I also like the treating your blog as a business mentality. Honestly, I am kind of stuck to how I want to monetize my blog. I have mainly been focusing on content and meeting some awesome bloggers like yourself.

I’m not rushing it. It will come to me soon enough.

Nice post Catherine. Take care…

You can blog until the cows come home, but if you have nothing relevant to say, then why would anyone read it! Produce the content, engage, build your network….repeat :-)

It’s true, if you want to have your blog as a business you need to treat it like one. No business is going to be rewarding without putting in the effort. I agree with monetizing from day 1 too. It’s not like you are going to start earning lots of $ from day 1, but you might as well set up the structure and have a plan of HOW you are going to make it profitable.

Thanks for your feedback :-)

Be a business person who blogs. Help, monetize, prosper. Monetize your blog from Day 1, work your blog daily and yep, work on a strict sked. Thanks!

I agree that blogging can be a lot of work and especially so if you are blogging with a mindset of making money at it. Having great content to share is probably the most important aspect for me. Once you have the ability to engage your audience and be seen as a authority figure you are at least on the right track.

Of course you then need to understand the importance of SEO, linkbuilding, generating traffic and things of that nature. Consistency is also important. I have a schedule that I try to follow so that I do not spend too much unnecessary time on one particular task. I admit it can be hard work but it is very rewarding as well.

Thank you for sharing.
