Content Marketing: Can It Make Money?

Content Marketing is simply the marketing formula that involves the creation and sharing of information to customers.  The focus is not necessarily on selling, but rather providing high quality information and solutions to people.  So is content marketing part of blogging?  Absolutely it is!

Whether you started your blog as a way to share information or as a way of earning an income, the key focus of the blog is to…provide QUALITY CONTENT!!

However, even if you are blogging for pleasure, the thought of making some money from your blog is incredibly exciting and the ability to make money whilst you sleep (so to speak) is definitely possible when you have a successful blog.

Whilst making an income online sounds easy enough, it’s not something that everyone finds possible.  Many bloggers strive for an income via their blog, but not all succeed.  Many bloggers often give up on the idea quickly because it does not come as easy as they once thought.

Is it therefore possible to make money from content marketing?  

Before we look at this question further, lets revisit what content marketing is.  It’s the provision of high quality information to customers, which can be presented in various manners, BUT has the final goal of helping people to solve any problems they may have.

Answer this question:  What was the reason you started blogging? 

Did you start purely to earn those big dollars, or did you start as a way of sharing and getting involved with your passion?  If blogging sounds like fun to you, then the chances are you are more likely to succeed and earn an income!

Are you in a hurry to make money from your blog?  If so, you should probably look elsewhere.  Making money online is going to take both TIME and EFFORT.  Are you ready to put this in?  This could take months or even years before you start to see the rewards.

So what will influence your ability to make money online through your content marketing?

The obvious signs are your PASSION to succeed, the QUALITY of your work and  your DRIVE!

1. Are You Passionate About Success?

Do you ‘hope’ to have a successful blog one day or are you really passionate about it?

If you blog with passion, that will shine through in your work.  Your readers will gain a buzz of excitement as they read your post and they will be eager to share and comment.  Remember that the more social engagement you receive, the higher traffic you gain and this increases the overall success of your blog.

Have a you ever read a blog post and been bored to tears in the first couple of paragraphs?  It might not be because the subject topic doesn’t interest you, but rather than the passion is lacking in the writing.

Your passion will help build relationship and most importantly trust with your readers.  Once you have people’s trust, you will start to make the sales!

Can you see now how important it is to be passionate about what you are doing?  Don’t underestimate the impact that this can have on your income potential.

2. Pay Attention To The Quality Of Your Content Marketing Work

There are many areas you can look into when considering the opportunity to make money with your blog.  However your first priority should always be to provide great content as this is the entire basis of content marketing.  WAIT…I’ll correct that….your first priority should be providing AWESOME content!

If you wish to make money online, you need to have a fantastic blog, engage well with others and provide constant value to all your readers.  Unless you have all these areas covered, your blog is unlikely to be successful and your chances of making money online will be very low.

3. What Drives You To Succeed?

Did you decide to commence with content marketing for the quick bucks or do you have a vision of creating an ongoing income via your blog?

If you jump in too quickly trying to make money, you could be missing a lot of opportunities further down the road.

Remember, the first rule of content marketing is to provide VALUE to your customers and answer problems they have.  Forget about the money right now and focus on the bare basics!

Those bloggers that focus on their passion and the quality of the blog’s content will produce a blog that has the groundwork built firmly.  What happens if you try to build a house without first building a strong foundation?  It’s going to fall over isn’t it!  Building a strong foundation on your blog, will set you up for the future.

Whilst you are building your foundation, it is unlikely that you are going to be earning an income.  Are you however going to let that stop you from reaching your success?  What is driving you forward?

Failing to build a strong foundation on your blog, will result in many bloggers running for the hills disheartened.  They do not have drive to keep them going and when the going gets tough (which it will), they have nothing keeping their feet firmly planted on the ground.  Your blog ‘could’ be one of those successful ones, but unless you build it right and have the drive to succeed, it never will.

If you are asking yourself how long it will take to earn an online income, you may also be be disappointed with the answer.  There is no time frame that can be given here as each and every situation is different.  Some bloggers make an income in a matter of weeks or months, whilst others can take years.

The ability to earn money online can vary depending on the amount of time you put into it, and the competition of your niche.

However, one thing is certain.  ALL the successful bloggers making money online today have PASSION, QUALITY CONTENT and a DRIVE to succeed!

Blogging should be fun.  If it’s not fun for you, you seriously need to look at making some changes because you are going to be doing this….lots!  The profits will come, but you must be prepared to put in the hard yards first.
